Why Koç GSB?
About Koç University Graduate School of Business
Koç University Graduate School of Business (Koç GSB) is the graduate business faculty of Koç University, a private, non-profit research university founded in 1993 and located on the Rumelifeneri campus in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul, Turkey. The university was established by the Vehbi Koç Foundation — the philanthropic arm of Turkey's largest industrial and commercial conglomerate — with an explicit founding mission to produce graduates capable of competing and leading at an international level. The Graduate School of Business itself launched its MBA program in 1994 and has since grown into Turkey's most internationally recognised business faculty, distinguished by an academic culture that prizes rigorous, publication-quality research alongside applied management education. Its intellectual orientation leans toward evidence-based decision-making and quantitative rigour, reflecting both the engineering heritage of Koç University and the global career trajectories of its faculty.

Executive Education at a Glance
Koç University Graduate School of Business has built its executive education offering around the practical realities of doing business in and through Turkey — a market that functions as a hinge between Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Programs span open enrollment and custom corporate formats, with the custom track accounting for a significant share of delivery, reflecting strong demand from Turkish and multinational corporations operating in the region. The Executive MBA (EMBA) is the flagship credential program, designed for professionals with a minimum of eight years of experience and structured around weekend modules to accommodate working schedules; it consistently attracts participants from Turkey's major conglomerates, financial institutions, and multinationals. Beyond the EMBA, the school's Koç University Executive Education unit offers short open programs across leadership, finance, strategy, digital transformation, and family business management — the latter reflecting the outsized role of family-controlled enterprises in the Turkish economy. Program durations for open programs typically range from two days to several weeks, with fees generally in the range of ₺15,000–₺60,000 depending on duration and format; blended and fully in-person formats are both available.
Campus and Facilities
The Rumelifeneri campus occupies 600 acres of wooded land on the European shore of the Bosphorus, approximately 35 kilometres north of Istanbul's city centre — a setting that is genuinely unlike any other major business school campus in the world. The campus architecture is contemporary and purpose-built, featuring dedicated graduate and executive education facilities, seminar rooms equipped for hybrid learning, and residential accommodation that supports the immersive cohort dynamic executive participants value. Istanbul itself is not merely a backdrop: as a city of 15 million that hosts the regional headquarters of hundreds of multinational corporations, the operational capital of Turkey's largest banks and holding companies, and a logistics hub connecting three continents, it provides a live case study in navigating complexity, geopolitical risk, and high-velocity markets. Executive participants regularly benefit from access to corporate partners embedded in the city's business ecosystem in ways that would be difficult to replicate from a more peripheral location.
Faculty and Research
Koç GSB faculty numbers around 60 full-time academics, the majority of whom hold doctoral degrees from leading North American and European universities — including MIT, Wharton, London Business School, and INSEAD — giving the school an international intellectual orientation that is unusually strong for its geography. Research strengths relevant to executive education include behavioural economics and decision-making, supply chain and operations management, corporate finance in emerging markets, and organisational behaviour in high-uncertainty environments. The school hosts several dedicated research centres including the Koç University–TÜSİAD Economic Research Forum (ERF), a collaboration with Turkey's leading business confederation that produces influential policy-relevant research on the Turkish and wider regional economy. Faculty members regularly publish in journals such as Management Science, Journal of Finance, and Strategic Management Journal, and many serve as consultants or board advisors to major Turkish and international corporations — keeping their classroom contributions grounded in current practice.
Student Body, Alumni, and Career Outcomes
Koç GSB cohorts are predominantly drawn from Turkey's corporate elite, with EMBA classes typically including senior managers and directors from companies such as Garanti BBVA, Koç Holding, Sabancı Group, Arçelik, and a range of multinationals with significant Turkish operations including Unilever, P&G, and Bosch. The school's alumni network exceeds 5,000 graduates across MBA, EMBA, and specialist master's programs, with strong concentrations in financial services, manufacturing, technology, and energy — sectors that mirror Turkey's own economic structure. International diversity within cohorts is growing, with increasing enrollment from students and executives based in the broader MENA region, the Balkans, and Central Asian markets, reflecting Istanbul's rising status as a regional business hub. Career outcome data for EMBA graduates consistently shows high retention in senior roles, with many using the program less for lateral career moves and more for accelerating advancement within their existing organisations — a pattern typical of the most credible EMBA programs globally.
